A short story of Me:
I was born on January, 1970 in San Diego, California. I spent most of my childhood growing up in the North Counties of San Diego, and some years in the Missoula area of Montana, as well. My father is a lawyer and building contractor in Montana. I learned hard-work, discipline, and the love of wood-working from him. My mother is a children's counselor and massage therapist in California. I learned study, creativity, and therapy from her.
During my Junior High and High School years, I excelled at computers and the biological sciences. After High School, I moved to France and started to work for the Hospitality Industry. I learned the French language and became aware of cultural diversity.
Three years later, in 1992 I moved back to the U.S. and brought with me a passion for hunting and cataloging fungi of all kinds. I continued to work for Hotels in the Carmel/Monterey, California area. As my experience and training with the Service industry grew, I also capitalized on harvesting wild gourmet Chanterelle and Porcini mushrooms that would feed my growing hobby and many of the gourmet restaurants in the Carmel area.
I continued in a five-star luxury hotel, from Front Desk Manager to Director of Guest Services. I was learning about Business. I learned Customer Service, Sales, PNL, Marketing, Planning, Employee Training, Employee Relations, Employee Safety, Database systems Administration, Point of Sale Systems, Backups, PBX, and PCs.
In 1996, I was lucky enough to build a business with a partner that would teach me the art of dynamic and progressive business management: leadership, mentoring, listening, compassion, macro management, negotiation, guerilla marketing, delegation, and supply and demand cycles. My apprenticeship at GMT was about not only business, but also IT. I installed PCs, Ethernet LANs, and ISDN connections to the Internet. Meantime, my artistic studies continued, and I earned the title of California State Certified Massage Therapist, and taught Hatha Yoga classes on the side.
Three years later, I continued in the IT arena with MCSE and Cisco certifications. I went to work for Xerox Connect, and later on, for another Value Added Reseller, TechFuel. I grew my experience and expertise to include Microsoft Windows and Unix operating systems, Cisco IOS, web servers, mail servers, file and print servers, firewalls, switches, routers, Frame-Relay, DNS and IP.
I then went to work for Nortel Networks, designing integrated voice and data networks. After being laid-off with so many other people in the market downturn of 2001, I began independent contracting for small and medium sized businesses. I provide expertise as a Network Architect and Systems Engineer. I am working with ATM, Frame-Relay, IP, Nortel switches, Cisco routers, Sun Solaris and Windows 2000.
Summer 2002 brought me to Spain to gain fluency in Spanish. I love to travel and explore new places and horizons.
My Life is Under Construction. Thank you for Your Patience.
